As I was saying…
It’s been a while since my last post and a lot of things have happened since then. Several family members have passed away: my Grandfather, my wife’s Grandfather and my wife’s Sister. Both Granddads lived rich, full lives.
I happened to witness my Grandfather pass away while he was in his hospital bed surrounded by family and loved ones. I can’t say it was a happy occasion. But it was a time of peace, love and serenity. I am glad I was there to witness his passing.
I won’t speak for my wife’s losses other than to say that she was sad. And that I believe she is still going through a process of mourning and remembrance of her family members.
Along with such personal matters, there have been significant changes to Otrib over the past several months. We introduced Chat as a result of user feedback. Some folks have found it to be quite good – others have been frustrated at the lack of people in the Chat rooms throughout the day. That’s partly a function of the relative youth of the site – we still are working to generate a lot of users/consumer awareness. And it’s also due to the nature of our existing users. We have people from all over the globe that use Otrib’s community – US, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa and many, many other countries. Naturally, not everyone is going to be online at the same time due to the different time zones. But, we will continue to improve things.
The other big thing to happen was a major site redesign occurred in March or April (time flies). This seems to have been a big hit with users, as it has led to more overall visitors, more page views and longer time on site metrics. There is more work in the pipeline, but before moving forward, I thought it best to document what has happened recently. Stay tuned…
